The occasion.
We are Paolo, Giulia and Natalia and our home is in Bologna.
In August 2006 we went to Puglia, better know abroad as Apulia, in the southern part of Italy. In that occasion we decided to buy an ancient trullo... what's a trullo?
It is a sort of country house with very particular characteristics: a small house all made by stones. There are no structures like wooden beams or bricks, but only stone arches, stone walls and stone cones as roofs. They are typical of a small area in Puglia called Valle d'Itria (Alberobello, Cisternino, Ostuni).
The idea.
Our trullo is located south of that valley in an area which is spotted with plenty of these rural
buildings and beautiful olive groves.
Many foreigners are now appreciating the beauty of this charming place and lot of people are investing funds in this area which is expected to become really soon the new Chianti of the South. Then we decided to buy a trullo and transform it in a residence-villa for ourselves, our friends and other guests who likely have appreciated our intense and enthusiastic rental activity of the last years with our other properties in Florence, Bologna, Venice and Ferrara.

Restoration works.
We are both architects and immediately we saw our just bought trullo as if its dry-stone blocks appeared as the ruins of an ancient temple, and with this enthusiastic vision we have restored it. South workers have slower rhythms than in the North so we ended the restoration only in early 2009. More info and images of the restoration are in the "trullo Gallery" section.
The offer.
Our trullo now offers beds up to six people, a well equipped small kitchen with four stove rings, a bathroom, a bedroom and an "alcova" which is a sort of separate niche with bed, really typical of such architectonic structures. There is a washing machine, hair-dryer, a small oven, the internet connection and a rechargeable mobile phone. There is the air conditioner. The same machine may be used for controlling the humidity and for the heating during the cold season. There is also a stove endowed with a window to enjoy the vision of the fire. Hot and fresh water is supplied by an artesian well. Actually the water is absolutely not polluted but we have to consider it as not drinkable.
Externally the trullo offers another important space, a sort of yard with a table and a wooden pergola. Trullo della Luna offers also a wide terraced area for sunbathing and the swimming pool (10 x 5 metres - 1.40 metres deep)) for your exclusive use. On the rooftop of the amplification there is a solarium.
As promotional and experimental benefit, we offer also our car in loan for use: it is a free optional (no charge for having the car) but we can't discount the rental price if you don't desire it. We leave the car parked in Brindisi, near the airport and you will receive detailed instructions about how to find it. So anyone coming by plane in half a hour can be on the edge of our swimming pool sipping a drink! The insurance covers all risks (car driver included). For more info about the car please click here.
The service.
We have a long experience of tourist rental management. You will deal with us by e-mail, the way we prefer. Please visit the "How renting works" section of this web site about what to do if you want to book a stay. Of course we have a charged staff on the spot for any emergency or problem to solve. We have prepared a set of detailed instructions for managing cleverly the keys, the wells, the heating etc. There is also a privileged part of this site with a "troubleshooting" section and a lot of tips. |
